Do you ever listen to music and get transported somewhere? Maybe you're taken somewhere you've already been, or perhaps it's simply somewhere you wish to be. I find that happens to me a lot. I love where the rhythm and storytelling of a song takes me. I could be off, driving through the windy roads with my friends that lead to many mountains and lakes in my hometown in Oregon. Oh how the wind would sail through our hair, the air fresh and clean, rays of sun flickering through the evergreens. I could be transported back to Spain, where my husband and I went on our honeymoon (by the way, highly recommend visiting at least once in your life). It was moments like walking through the cobblestone streets of the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona, where there was lively chatter and miscellaneous music, or seeing the remaining Roman ruins in Cartagena, where an amphitheater around two thousand years old remained. And then there were the moments where I could even be surrounded by my friends, the music simply a pleasant background noise to our laughter and conversation. It may not have played a huge role in that story, but it filled the air with joy.
I find that music can raise any emotion. Sometimes my music pulls my heartstrings when I think about my loved ones back home, when my husband is on the road, or even worshiping at my young adults group. Sometimes it may bring nostalgia, like when my Dad would take out his green 1977 Bronco in the summer and we'd drive through town, sharing with strangers the sounds of Def Leppard, Luke Combs, and so much more. It may even bring more recent nostalgia, such as "Faithfully" by Journey — the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding, or really any of the songs that were highlighted that special day. Music has infiltrated my life, in an amazing way, especially with my husband being a musician (if you know, you know).
With all that being said, I hope you were able to peep through the looking glass and get a quick glance into my story. I believe that you'll see that music will inspire many future journal edits you may read from me. Or it may not, which is also okay. But you can know, without a shadow of a doubt, I was listening to something.
Now, I'd like to welcome you to my newest project, The Chambers Edit. It'll be a place where you can continue to get a peek inside my many thoughts. Here you'll find stories, ideas, reflections, passions, and so much more. I'd like to thank you for taking a brief moment out of a busy day to pause, and listen, as I'm sure you do with the music we use to fill our lives.
With love.
